Your Initial Consultation
You will start by meeting with our hygienist. She will spend a few minutes getting to know you, will look at your teeth and gums, answer your questions, and begin the examination process. She will screen you for oral cancer and take any needed X-rays and a CT scan of your jaw.
Next, you will meet Dr. Lim, who will complete the examination and go over his findings with you. This examination process is thorough, and you should allow an hour to an hour and a half for this appointment. We don’t normally do a dental cleaning at this appointment but will schedule that as part of your treatment after Dr. Lim has made a complete diagnosis of your needs.
If you are coming to Dr. Lim because of TMJ problems, because you have a toothache, or want some other specific service, you will begin by meeting directly with Dr. Lim.
If you need a professional dental cleaning, we will schedule you for one after Dr. Lim has had the chance to carefully examine your mouth and diagnose any health concerns.
We also offer a consultation if you are coming in for a second opinion or want to learn about your options for smile makeovers or dental implants before committing to a paid exam.
Advanced Dental Technology in Owasso
Recent advances in dental technology make dental care more comfortable, faster, and more accurate. Our office is state-of-the-art with this advanced technology.
Digital Dental X-rays
A digital scanner replaces the sharp-edged film of yesteryear. The images we capture show up instantly on the computer right there in the operatory.
3D X-rays/Cone Beam CT Scanner
Having our own CT machine on-site eliminates the need for us to refer you to another location to have this essential diagnostic image taken. A CT scan provides Dr. Lim with a detailed map of key structures inside your jaw, and this is essential when planning for complex procedures like dental implants or TMJ treatment.
CEREC
This CAD/CAM technology allows Dr. Lim to design and place beautiful ceramic tooth-colored restorations like dental crowns and onlays in one appointment. No more wearing a temporary crown while your case is sent to a dental laboratory.
Dental Lasers
Dental lasers are useful in a wide range of treatment applications. When used for fillings, there is no vibration or annoying sound, and they seal the tooth as they remove decay and damaged tooth structure, which makes them painless and eliminates the need for local anesthetic. In different settings, they can also be used for minor surgical procedures and for fast, effective bleaching of the teeth.
Digital Impressions
Instead of taking a mold of your teeth with messy dental putty, we use a wand that optically scans your teeth in a matter of seconds and creates a perfect digital image of your mouth.
Intraoral Camera
The intraoral camera dramatically increases our ability to see what is happening in your mouth. It also enables us to share those views with you.
EMG Electromyography
Electromyography (EMG) is a technique used to measure muscle activity. We can use EMG to diagnose and treat conditions that affect the muscles of your jaw and face, such as temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD). By placing electrodes on your skin overlying the muscles of the jaw and face, we can measure the electrical activity in the muscles and use this information to diagnose and treat the root cause of your TMJ disorder.
DNA Appliance
A DNA appliance is a type of oral appliance that is used to treat a variety of dental and orthodontic conditions, such as TMJ disorder. It works by applying gentle pressure to your teeth and jaws, which encourages the growth of new bone and improves the alignment of your teeth.
TENS Unit
A TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) unit is a device Dr. Lim uses to alleviate pain and relax muscles in your head and neck area. It works by sending low-voltage electrical impulses to your muscles, which helps to increase blood flow and reduce tension in the affected area.
OccluSense
OccluSense is a device we use to measure the forces exerted by teeth during biting and chewing. It is a wireless, handheld device that provides us with real-time data to help diagnose and treat issues related to the occlusion, or alignment, of your teeth.
Digital Smile Design
Digital Smile Design (DSD) is a useful tool for Dr. Lim and our patients as it allows for a more accurate and predictable outcome when planning cosmetic dentistry or restorative procedures. By using digital technology to create a visual representation of the final result, patients can have a clearer understanding of what to expect, and Dr. Lim can more accurately plan and execute the treatment.
