What is All-on-4?
When you lose your teeth, your body resorbs the bone that was used to support those teeth, since it senses that the bone is no longer needed. If you then decide to get conventional dental implants, bone grafting would be required to provide enough support for the implants. The All-on-4 technique was invented to try to avoid the need for grafting. Two of the implants are placed vertically at the front of your mouth where patients tend to have more bone, and the implants further back are placed at an angle. Placing them at an angle increases their resistance to the stresses of supporting the denture.
The denture itself is a full arch of custom-designed teeth nested in lifelike acrylic gums, similar to a removable denture. But since the All-on-4 prosthesis is anchored with implants, it is secure and immovable. The denture fastens to the implants with attachments that only a dentist can remove.
When you get All-on-4 dental implants, Dr. Lim will carefully design your prosthesis and plan your implant surgery in advance. On the day of the procedure, you will receive your dental implants and we will attach your new teeth to them right away. This is why the treatment is also known as “teeth-in-a-day.”
Benefits of All-on-4 Dental Implants
There are several reasons to consider getting a new smile with All-on-4:
Your bite will be stable and secure. You will no longer have to deal with a loose denture that slides around and pinches your mouth. You’ll be able to chew food with ease and smile with confidence.
You’ll save time and money. Because there is no need for bone grafting, you can skip that procedure and the healing time that follows it and go straight to getting implants.
You’ll leave with new teeth the very same day. There’s no waiting period. You may come into our practice with a denture or a few failing teeth, but you will leave with a complete smile.
You will halt facial collapse. The presence of dental implants stimulates your jawbone and prevents its resorption. Any further shrinking of your jawbone around the implants will be stopped.
